As many of you may have heard, EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) mandate will be going into effect full force on May 25th, 2018. In short, the new EU GDPR replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and was designed to synchronize data privacy laws throughout Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy.
If you’re unfamiliar with the GDPR, we’ve put together a quick debriefer to help you along. The GDPR is about:
- Data consent.
- As a citizen of EU, you have the right to tell a business if you want them to keep your data or not.
- Businesses that don’t just take in data but also send need to send it to other businesses (via integrations) need to comply to new standards set forth by the GDPR. When there are multiple levels of service agreements, consent becomes complex and the GDPR helps streamline this process.
Going forward, your Ronin services will be governed by our updated:
Terms of Service (TOS)
Data Processing Addendum (DPA)
Actions Required: Please review the three documents above ASAP. The new Terms are immediately applicable and the EU DPA portion is also immediately applicable starting May 25th.
If you cannot agree or comply to the terms, please terminate your Ronin services and we will immediately remove all of your data. Otherwise, continued use of the service constitutes your agreement to the new terms.
Thank You for being a Ronin Customer.
We’re happy to announce an official integration with Clockodo!
Clockodo is a dedicated time tracking software for small and medium sized businesses. Here’s a description by Clockodo:
With Clockodo, you and your co-workers can track your working hours online, quickly, simply and reliably.
For over five years now, crystal clear reports, maximum flexibility and a variety of features and intuitive user guidance have made clockodo one of the most popular time tracking software products around for SMEs.
How does the cooperation of Clockodo and Ronin work?
With a connection of Clockodo and Ronin you easy up your billing. Customers created in ronin can be imported to Clockodo at any time. After tracking your working hours on projects in Clockodo, you can create a bill for them sorted to the right, connected customer and transfer the invoice to Ronin.
How can I connect Ronin to Clockodo?
- You need an Clockodo account
- You need a Ronin account
- You need your Alias and your API token from ronin. You will find it in your ronin setup.
In your Clockodo account, click on general settings. At the bottom of the page you can link-up Clockodo to a billing application. Next, you can select Ronin. Now enter your Ronin Alias and your API token copied from Ronin and your standard tax rate. After connecting the two applications, you can import your customers from Ronin to Clockodo and transfer invoice drafts to Ronin.
We have a new update to the Ronin Payments API! Starting today, you’ll be able to access a value called “Transaction_ID”. If you have a payment gateway integrated with Ronin, you’ll be able to see the corresponding transaction ID from that payment provider.
The Transaction ID will be accessible through the Ronin Payments API only and will appear alongside other data such as amount, note, invoice_id, received_on data, transaction_fee_amount, etc. A very good use case for example is to match up Ronin payments made via Stripe w/ Stripe transaction data.
Enjoy and let us know if you have any questions!
One more update to the bulk “Mark Invoice as Paid” feature for Ronin. Bulk invoices was previously only available from the main “Invoice” page. We’ve now made this accessible from a specific Client page.
To access this, go to “Clients” > select a client > click on the “Invoices” sub-tab > and you should see the “Bulk Mark Paid” button at the bottom. This allows you to bulk mark invoices paid from a specific client instead of hunting for relevant invoices from the main invoices page.
Happy Monday Ronins!
We have just added a new API endpoint to support payments. With this new API endpoint you have programmatic access to payments. You can also programmatically apply a payment to an invoice or remove an existing payment.
With the new payments API, we’re also able to work with Zapier to create a new trigger to bring automation to Ronin and your other favorite accounting apps. For example, you can now create a Zapier zap that listens for invoice payments and then post a webhook to your app. Even if you don’t use Zapier, the Payments API is immensely useful by itself as a way to grab your payments data via API.
Here’s one of the hottest feature requests so far for 2017!
You can now mark invoices as paid, in bulk! If you’ve been waiting for this feature, it’s now available and live in your Ronin account.
To get started, scroll down to the list of invoices in the invoices tab and click on the “Bulk Mark Paid” button.
Once you’ve checked the invoices you need to mark as paid, click on the “Mark Selected as Paid” button. Wait for the verification to show up!

If you haven’t already noticed, Ronin just got some new clothes! The new design language + completely responsive UI is a first step of many into transforming Ronin into the best invoicing and time tracking software for businesses, consultants, and freelancers.
You can now use Ronin even if you’re on the go directly through your mobile browser. Yes, that includes time tracking, invoice creations, entering customer information, the whole 9-yards!
If you’re subscribed to our newsletters, you will have already heard that starting on June 15th, any changes or updates you make to your custom templates will also need to be designed responsively. Existing custom templates without further changes will be grandfathered to a non-responsive layout. To update your custom template now or after June 15th, go to your account settings and then “Custom Templates”.
In addition to a new homepage, responsive UI, and new mobile UI/UX, Ronin also now support high resolution custom invoice logos to help you brand your invoices and estimates!

Related Invoices for Projects + New API Endpoint
You can now access invoices related to a given project by using the new “Invoices” tab under each project name. This navigational improvement will save you time and resources when it comes to managing invoices for a particular project including the different states they’re in.
This is also available in the Ronin API as a new endpoint. Simply go to https://www.roninapp.com/api/invoices and scroll down until you see the new projects related endpoint.
Updated Time Tracking and Projects
If you’re within a Project and you track hours, the title of the page will now be a link back to the Project for a more simplified navigational experience.
If you click on this link when the Timer is running it will not stop the timer. The timer will continue to run.
We now support including the recorded expense date as part of the invoice line item description. When pulling in an expense into an invoice.
Simply check the “Expense Date” box and insert the unbilled expense!
When you integrate Stripe with Ronin, statements going to your clients used to show your Stripe business settings. This means reduced flexibility when you want to be invoicing as another entity.
We’ve added the ability for you to override the settings in your Stripe account and bill your client as another name. Simply go to “Account” and then “Payment Integration”. Scroll down until your see your Stripe integration section and enter a new “Stripe Statement Descriptor” to replace whatever is currently in your Stripe Business settings.
As the dashboard mentions, the new descriptor will appear on your customer’s card statement going forward. To revert back to your default settings, simply remove the descriptor.
